BTS ARMY slam James Corden for calling K-Pop group's appearance at the UN 'unusual'; revoke his title 'papa mochi' for calling fanbase '15-year-old girls'
The late show host, who played host to the Korean Pop stars on his chat show, irked fans with his choice of words during a televised segment. Corden calling the band's presence at the UN 'unusual', didn't sit too well with fans who took to social media to blast the funnyman.
Corden opened up with, "The United Nations General Assembly kicked off this morning in New York City, and it started with some pretty unusual visitors... BTS were there. BTS visited the UN... Although lots of people are saying why are BTS there, the world leaders have no choice but to take BTS seriously. BTS has one of the largest ARMY on the planet earth."
In his segment, Corden even said, "For the first time, 15-year-old girls found themselves wishing they were Secretary-General, António Guterres."
The fact that the show host compared the diverse global fandom to '15-year-old girls' also didn't sit too well with many. In response, ARMY took to Twitter to slam the host saying, "James Corden, as a teenage girl myself I just want to take a moment to say leave us alone. I’m not brainless for liking a boy band, and neither does me liking a boy band invalidate their achievements. Stop using my gender and age as a way of mocking other people and what they do."
Others even went ahead and "revoked" his title as "Papa Mochi".
"James Corden you better never call yourself an army or papa mochi ever again, you’re just like everyone else," a fan said in disappointment.

Another said, "James Corden is no longer our Papa Mochi after using the boys for clout and actively making fun of the fanbase— demoting it from a beautiful, diverse community into a bunch of '15 year old girls'."
Following the backlash, ARMY noted that the show took down the video from their handle. Reacting to the same, a fan said, "Not James Corden deleting his tweet like 30 million of us haven’t seen it already."
The Grammy-nominated band comprising of RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V, and Jungkook, attended the 76th UNGA as part of their duties as envoys and also performed their latest English single 'Permission to Dance' at the UN headquarters.
