Ola Electric bike launch 'within months, not years': Bhavish Aggarwal

Ola Electric bike is likely to launch in India in 2023. Ola Electric currently has its S1 and S1 Pro electric scooters on sale in the country, however, these are now confirmed to be joined by an electric bike which ​is likely to be placed higher than these e-scooter offerings.

Ola Electric made several new announcements yesterday on India's 76th Independence Day. Apart from rolling out the launch timeline for its electric car which will make its debut in 2024, the company has also introduced the new base S1 electric scooter at Rs 99,990. In other key developments from the online event, OLA co-founder and CEO, Bhavish Aggarwal was quoted saying that the company will announce its first electric bike in the market within a year. "Within months not years we'll announce a bike," Aggarwal highlighted.

Ola Electric currently has its S1 and S1 Pro electric scooters on sale in the country, however, these are now confirmed to be joined by an electric bike which is likely to be placed higher than these offerings. While Aggarwal did not confirm more details of the upcoming Ola Electric bike, the project is likely to be in an early development stage currently. Ola might also start teasing details of this project in the next few months, as it has started doing with its electric car which is still a few years away from its official debut.

While the technical details and features of the Ola Electric bike are scarce at the moment, expect this model to have a range close to 150 km to 200 km per full charge cycle. This will enable it to compete fiercely with the rivals such as the Revolt RV400, Kratos electric bike and more. As seen on the S1 scooter range, the e-bike is also likely to boast some segment-leading features such as digital display, smartphone connectivity, OTA updates, re-gen support, cruise control and riding modes.

While it is too early to speculate on the price range of the Ola Electric bike, expect it to range somewhere in the bracket of Rs 1.40 lakh to Rs 1.60 lakh. More details will be confirmed in the next few months.
